Maps of Love News for Android and iOS

As we get nearer to October 27, and the start of this year's Wheels of Love ride, I've made some updates to Maps of Love.

Maps of Love for Android

Maps of Love for Android 2.0 (mapsoflove) is now available from the Google Play Store. Improvements in this version include an improved user interfaces, elevation information, and elapsed time displayed in 
hours:minutes:seconds format. 














Please note that if you are having trouble trying to locate the app in Google Play, please search for it as mapsoflove or use the this link.

Maps of Love for iPhone

Maps of Love was written as a cross-platform app. This means that getting it to run on Apple's iOS should be a fairly straight forward process. 

While I've found a way of deploying Maps of Love to the iOS App store, I've been experiencing some delays getting a developer license. 


In the meantime, if you want to try it out, please do the following:

1. Use the following link to download a free app called icenium-ion from the iOS App Store: https://itunes.apple.com/bg/app/icenium-ion/id527547398?mt=8
2. Once the app is installed, scan the following QR code with your iPhone's camera.

Maps of Love (mapsoflove) 1.0 for Android Released

I'm very pleased to announce that Maps of Love 1.0 (mapsoflove) is now available in the Google Play store. The app is named after the ALYN Hospital's Wheels of Love International Bike Ride. The app is designed to provide maps and information regarding each days ride. To mark the occasion, here is a quick tour of the app.

Home Page

The home page lets you choose a ride, (Off-road, On-road, etc.), the day's ride (Day 1 to 5), and display the ride's elevation (optional).

Map Page

After you selected a ride, the app displays a map of the ride. The Map provides controls that let you zoom-in and out, and locate your current position.

Expanding the Map Page's Navigation bar, lets you access the following buttons.

• Start/Stop tracking: Lets you track your ride.
• Show/Hide description: Displays a description of the days ride.
• Home: Returns you to the Home Page and lets you choose another ride.

mapsoflove 0.2 for Android Released

mapsoflove 0.2 for Android is available from the Google Play store. This version includes maps and descriptions for the off-road, on-road, challenge, and touring rides.

Welcome to the Maps of Love blog. The Maps of Love is a cross-platform, maps application for mobile phones and tablets. The app is named after the ALYN Hospital's Wheels of Love International Bike Ride. For more information, see the Maps of Love Project Page.

About the Maps of Love App

The app is designed to provide maps and information regarding each days ride. The apps launch screen lets you choose a ride, (Off-road, On-road, etc.), the day's ride (Day 1 to 5), and display the ride's elevation (optional). After you selected a ride, the app displays a map of the ride. In addition, it also lets you locate your current position, track your ride, and display you a text description. The app is created with cross-platform web technologies including, HTML, CSS, and Javascript. All project code was pushed to the Map's of Love GitHub repository.

The Maps of Love is not an official Wheels of Love Application. The Alyn Hospital and the Wheels of Love Ride are not in involved with this project.
